About the PAN Pacific Moot

The Pan Pacific Moot (formerly known as the South Pacific International Moot Competition) originated in 1994, when the first event took place. It started as a bilateral competition between UPNG and QUT, organized jointly by Bob Sibley (then at the QUT Law School) and Ted Hill (then at UPNG Law School). A team of 4 from PNG traveled to Brisbane that year to compete in a friendly competition with a team of 4 from QUT.

Rules of the PAN Pacific Moot

Each university may enter a team of up to 4 competitors. Only 2 members of a team appear in any round of the competition. Students who are engaged in full or part time course work towards an LLB degree at one of the competing universities are eligible to a member of that university’s team.

Notes for Judges’ Associates

Acting as a judges’ associate provides a first row seat to international mooting and allows a student to actively participate in the organization and running of the event. Application forms for judges’ associates are available in the law administration office or from USPECSA.
